July 2010
The July Murphy winner is Jimmy Jordan. On a recent Friday night dinner ride, Chapter A rode up the Fatz Cafe on Clemson Blvd. As everyone was walking toward the door, one of our members with a keen eye noticed the keys still in the switch of Jimmy's bike. Upon entering the restaurant Jimmy was nominated for the award and handed his keys. Jimmy now has the honor of riding Murphy around for the next month. Keep him dry :)
June 2010
This months Murphy winner is Donna Atkins. On Chapter A's overnight trip to Pigeon Forge, on our last stop Donna had pulled her phone out to call her son because they had stopped and we didn't know it. Went we pulled out to go to hour hotel, Donna had laid her phone on top of the bag on the luggage rack. After 4 or so miles riding thru Pigeon Forge we finally found our hotel. When Donna got off the bike and started to remove their luggage there was the phone still laying on the bag. Good thing a Goldwing is a smooth ride.
May 2010
This months winner is none other than our Chapter Director Jerry Crane. On April 17th Chapter A hosted their first ever Plaque Attack. When it came time to start selling tickets for the drawings, James asked Jerry for the tickets. That's when he realized that he had left the tickets at home. He had to mount his trusty steed and go back home to get them. Like we say, everyone does them, but only the select few win the award.
April 2010
This months Murphy award winner is James (No Room) Adkins. At the March Plaque Attack in Myrtle Beach. James was so excited that Chapter A finally captured the plaque. Donna just wanted to get a beach front room and sit back and relax. Well James talked Donna into riding on to Charleston before stopping for the night. As the Christmas story goes there was no room in the inn, hotel, motel, or YMCA due to all the activities going on in Charleston that weekend. They finally got a room in Summerville. Needless to say there was no beach front room for Donna. James will be reminded of this over the next month when he looks behind him and sees Murphy tagging along. James, you better take Donna for a nice walk on the beach during the upcoming convention.
Photo coming soon!!
Like we say everyone does them, but only a few have witness's. This months Murphy awarded winner is yours truly J.W. Worley. In January we were going to have a ride on Saturday and of course the weather was going to be COLD again. I was smart and picked up some electric gloves. The ride was in the mid 40's but my hands were toasty warm. We stopped in Elberton Ga. for something warm to drink. When I got back on my bike I started plugging the gloves back in. The only problem was instead of connecting the gloves to the correct cables I actually plugged them into each other. Well right in front of everyone I reach for the handlebars and found myself handcuffed together with my own gloves. Of course I had plenty of time to correct the problem while everyone finished laughing at me. I think a few may have had to make a return trip to the restroom. O well, good excuse to purchase the luggage rack for Murphy to roost on for the next month.:)
November's winner was Teresa Morgan. On our November ride, Teresa was getting ready to pull out on to Mall Road. When she went to stop, her chaps caught on something and she couldn't get her foot down soon enough and down she went. After getting the bike back up and running, Terry her husband drove it to the other side of Mall Road so it would be on level ground. After working up a sweat, when she mounted her ride pulled down her shield and was ready to go. Only problem was her face shield fogged up and see could not see. About that time she saw a car in her peripheral vision. Thinking she was about to be hit she hit the throttle. She crossed two of the 4 lanes, jumped the center curb and ended up going the wrong way Mall Road. Those of us that had pulled over saw her coming in one set of lanes and Terry in hot pursuit in the correct lane chasing her. Of course no one could get a camera out fast enough to capture the moment. Congratulations Teresa for being voted this months Murphy The Turkey winner.
